Electric vehicle sales by Kia Corporation in the United States have doubled year-to-date, driven by strong demand for the carmaker's EV9 SUV model, according to data released by the Korea Automobile & Mobility Association on Monday.
From January to July, the South Korean carmaker sold 33,957 electric vehicles in the United States, a significant increase from the 16,941 units sold during the same period last year. The EV9 SUV contributed to 34% of Kia's total electric vehicle sales in the US, with approximately 11,486 units sold.
In comparison, the overall US electric vehicle market experienced a modest 0.9% year-on-year growth, rising from 638,716 units to 644,752 units.
