Electric Car Sales Drop 37% in Germany

Electric car sales in Germany have dropped by 37% this year, according to the latest data from the German Automobile Association (VDA). This shows that the electric vehicle (EV) market in the country is facing significant challenges.

Between January and July, only 145,300 electric cars were sold in Germany, compared to 230,000 during the same period last year. Experts say this decline is due to issues like supply chain problems, higher energy costs, and reduced government subsidies for electric vehicles.

Despite the overall decline, some companies are still doing well. Tesla, for example, saw a small increase in sales, mainly because of strong demand for its Model Y. However, other big brands like Volkswagen and BMW saw their electric car sales fall significantly.

The VDA is urging the government to take action to boost the market. They suggest extending subsidies, improving charging stations, and making it easier for people to buy and use electric cars.
