
Kia Opens New Factory to Expand EV Production

Kia Corporation has officially opened the Kia Gwangmyeong EVO Plant, Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing facility.
The new Kia Autoland Gwangmyeong plant is set to produce 150,000 electric vehicles annually. Production of the Kia EV3 has already begun in the first half of this year, with EV4 production slated for the first half of 2025.
To celebrate the plant's completion, Kia hosted a ceremony attended by approximately 150 guests, including Kia Executive Vice President Jun Young Choi, Gwangmyeong City Mayor Seung Won Park, and 22nd National Assembly Members O Kyeong Lim and Nam Hee Kim.
“The completion of the Kia Gwangmyeong EVO Plant is a key milestone in our journey to lead the EV sector following our brand renewal in 2021. Our goal is to innovate in the EV market and fulfill our commitment to a sustainable future,” - Jun Young Choi said during his speech.
