Increase in Electric Vehicle Imports in Armenia

Oct 3, 2024

In the first seven months of 2024, more than 4,800 electric cars were imported into Armenia, according to the State Revenue Committee. This data reflects the growing popularity of environmentally friendly transportation in the country.

It is important to note that this volume of imports has already used approximately 65% of the annual duty-free quota for electric vehicles. Out of the initially allocated quota of 7,400 cars, only 2,563 units remain.

The quota, established under the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), allows Armenia to import electric vehicles from non-EAEU countries without customs duties. This decision is aimed at encouraging the transition to eco-friendly transport and supporting the development of the necessary infrastructure in the country.

The Armenian government's decision to exempt electric vehicle imports from customs duties has already significantly increased their presence in the country.
