Hyundai Signs Korea's Largest Renewable Energy Deal
Nov 7, 2024
Hyundai has signed Korea's largest renewable energy deal, marking a major step in its pursuit of sustainable development. In partnership with Hyundai Engineering & Construction, SK E&S, GS E&R, and Enlighten, Hyundai has secured an annual supply of 610 GWh of renewable energy over the next 20 years through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
Hyundai is also broadening its renewable energy portfolio with plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through solar energy projects. The company has already established 20 MW of solar power generation capacity at its facilities in Korea, with plans to add another 11 MW of solar power next year in Ulsan, where Hyundai’s first dedicated EV plant is set to open. By 2045, Hyundai aims to power 100% of its domestic and international operations with renewable energy. Globally, Hyundai’s facilities in the Czech Republic and Indonesia are now fully powered by renewable sources.
