Tax and tariff exemptions in Azerbaijan have resulted in a significant rise in the import of hybrid and electric vehicles in recent years. Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, announced this at an international conference in Baku during Climate Action Week.

"One of our most ambitious projects is the electrification of public transport. The introduction of 160 new electric buses next month is just the beginning, and we expect their number to grow significantly in the coming years," - Hummatov said.

He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s plans aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development. These initiatives include expanding the country's aviation fleet, modernizing metro infrastructure, acquiring modern electric trains for Azerbaijan Railways, electrifying the railway network, and ensuring greener transport options on railway routes.
