Oct 23, 2024
Hyundai Motor Group has announced the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV) in India, scheduled for January. The new model will be an electrified version of the popular Creta SUV.
The Creta EV will be produced at Hyundai's manufacturing facility in South India, which has been operational since 1998.
From January to September, Hyundai sold 459,411 vehicles in India, with 67% of those sales being SUVs. The company is nearing its target of selling 605,000 units this year.
As part of its expansion strategy, Hyundai plans to introduce four more battery-powered vehicles by 2030 alongside the Creta EV. The company also aims to increase the number of EV charging stations in the country from 43 to 485.
