Toyota and Suzuki Strengthen Partnership to Launch New Electric SUV
Nov 1, 2024
Toyota and Suzuki announced that they are strengthening their partnership to jointly develop a new electric SUV, which Suzuki will manufacture and supply to Toyota.
Production is set to begin in the spring of 2025 at Suzuki’s Motor Gujarat plant in India, marking the first electric vehicle launched under the OEM collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota.
This new model will be exclusively electric, offering refined handling, extended driving range, and a spacious interior. Additionally, it will feature four-wheel drive (4WD) for improved performance on challenging roads.
“Suzuki will supply our first BEV to Toyota globally. I am pleased that our cooperation has grown in this way,” said Suzuki’s President, Toshihiro Suzuki. “While we remain competitors, we will work together to address societal challenges, including achieving carbon neutrality through a multi-pronged approach.”
The new BEV SUV will be sold globally, providing Suzuki and Toyota with the opportunity to enter the growing SUV market with a competitive all-electric model.
Previous collaborations between Suzuki and Toyota have already resulted in successful joint models, and this new initiative will further strengthen their partnership as they work together to meet the challenges and opportunities in global electric mobility.
