BYD is planning to expand into Pakistan. Last month, Pakistan's largest private power company, Hub Power (Hubco), announced that its subsidiary, Mega Motor, in partnership with BYD, will establish the country's first electric car factory by 2026.

Pakistan's Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, stated that the government would encourage BYD to export to African and South Asian markets, including Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

By 2030, the Karachi plant is expected to produce 100,000 BYD electric cars and hybrids, representing about a quarter of the vehicles sold in Pakistan.
