Bentley’s First Fully Electric SUV Set to Launch in 2026

Nov 11, 2024

Bentley has announced it will launch its first fully electric vehicle in 2026. The new model, described as a "premium urban SUV," will be a crossover slightly smaller than the Bentayga, targeting urban consumers seeking high-end electric vehicles. In an online briefing, Bentley also shared that its carbon neutrality target has been shifted from 2030 to 2035.

Bentley’s journey towards electrification began with the introduction of the Bentayga Hybrid in 2018, and the brand now offers plug-in hybrid versions of both the Continental GT and Flying Spur.

The new electric SUV is expected to be similar in size to the Porsche Cayenne or Audi Q7 and will likely share a platform with the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV.

While specific details are still under wraps, Bentley emphasized a strong focus on optimizing driving range and charging speed.

Addressing the lack of engine sound in EVs, Bentley Board Member Matthias Rabe mentioned that the brand is working on an innovative solution, though they aren’t ready to disclose specifics yet. He assured that Bentley isn’t simply aiming to replicate the sound of a traditional engine.
